"What is Genetic Diagnosis (PGD)?
Preimplantation genetic diagnosis-PGD is the genetic diagnostic method used in the period before fertilization of the female egg before pregnancy but before it is placed in the uterus. In vitro fertilization (in vitro fertilization) is required to perform this method. The method is based on the principle of transferring the embryo to the mother in the 6-8 cell period of the fertilized egg (embryo), by taking one or two cells without disturbing the structure and viability of the embryo and performing a healthy chromosomal structure as a result of the analysis. With this method, it is possible to make a definite diagnosis without damaging the embryo and the method protects the mother from high-risk practices such as curettage and premature delivery in the second trimester of pregnancy.
